Our Mission…

To celebrate God's presence in our midst by Mass, Sacraments, and Prayer;
To live Christ's love by serving others, especially the poor, neglected, and suffering;
To grow in the truths and values of our Catholic Tradition, teach them to our children, and proclaim them to those who do not know them.

The Twenty-Eighth Sunday

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE AND HEALING IN THE WAKE OF THE ABUSE CRISIS

The findings of the Pennsylvania Grand Jury and the news of abuse by Archbishop McCarrick have devastated the Church in recent days.  Archbishop Sartain has requested, that a NOVENA OF PRAYER TO MARY, MOTHER OF THE CHURCHwill be said throughout the Archdiocese of Seattle beginning the evening of October 4, and concluding with the weekend Masses on October 13/14.  Novena prayers will be available in the back of the church.

  • The Novena will be held from 6-7:00 pm each night at St. Mary's in the church.
  • All are encouraged to join either at church or in your homes.
  • The purpose of the Novena is to pray for all victims of clergy sexual abuse, ask forgiveness for the sins of action and inaction on the part of the Church leaders, and to pray for the renewal the Church needs to protect the vulnerable and proclaim Christ's Gospel with transparency and integrity.

In conjunction with this Novena the Archdiocese has sent us a list of questions that they would like all of us to pray about and answer regarding recent news of abuse within the Church.  Please take some time to thoughtfully answer the questions on the  flyer included in last week's bulletin.  Put them in the collection baskets or return them to the Parish Office by October 22, so that we can send them to the Office of the Vicar for Clergy by Friday, October 26.  You need not sign these questionnaires.
